Ridley now has an Android app.
If you use Zotero for research and want to read, annotate, and search your library on your phone, this does the job.
What it does#
- Full-text search: finds text inside your PDFs, not just titles and authors
- On-device OCR: scanned papers with no text layer get recognized locally on your phone, no cloud processing
- Text reflow: academic papers reflow to fit your screen with adjustable font size
- Annotations: highlight, underline, and strikethrough with 5 colors, add comments, export as Markdown
- Night mode: color-inverted PDFs for reading in the dark
- Table of contents: jump between chapters
- Reading position memory: pick up where you left off
- In-PDF search: Ctrl+F equivalent, searches current page first then expands
- Citation formatting: powered by OokCite, 2,900+ styles, 30 free lookups per day
Free and premium#
The free tier covers library browsing, ZFS PDF viewing, in-app annotations, and OokCite lookups.
Premium (EUR 1/mo) adds external PDF opening, offline caching, and note sharing.
Ridley storage subscribers (EUR 1.50+/mo) get premium mobile features included with their EU-hosted storage plan.
